Monday, February 3, SCEA kicked off Black History month. The theme: Remembering the Past and Shaping the Future. The guest of honor was Ms. Saint Clair Evans the wife of the late Mr. Saint Clair Evans whom the school was named after. Each grade level presented an interesting fact about a famous person through song, poem, skits, and dance. The fifth graders honored Mr. Evans with a special poem and Polydore’s Princesses’, a fifth grade reading club, presented Ms. Evans with a special plaque for sponsoring them. Ms. Evans addressed the crowd and shared how proud she was of the school and encouraged the students to do their best in school. Other activities for the month included;
· Who Am I - Each day a famous Black History Fact
· African America Inventors Showcase - Students will view various inventions that were invented by African American
· “The 125” Black History Literacy Project - A team form the Florida Air National Guard will read to the first and second graders
· Feb. 15 Flag Rising Ceremony to honor Presidents Day
