Moncrief Elementary School was renamed in 1998 to honor the memory of Saint Clair Evans, the school's first principal when the school opened in 1952. Mr. Evans was a graduate of Florida A&M and received a Masters Degree from New York University. He was also principal at Douglas Anderson High School and West Lewisville Elementary. He raised money to ensure that no child went hungry in his school years before the free lunch program.
Saint Clair Evans Academy benefits from our PTA. All families are encouraged to participate in school activities and fundraisers put on by PTA. Fundraisers include cookie-dough sales, T-shirt sales, and the School Carnival. They are a vibrant and integral part of our school! If you haven't already joined PTA, become part of the team! It's only $5.00 per person to join, and all funds go toward supporting our fabulous school! If you are new to Saint Clair Evans Academy, or have not been an active member before, please consider joining our board. President Mrs. A. Brown The responsibility of the School Advisory Council is to provide parents, citizens, faculty, staff, and students an opportunity to participate in the development of educational priorities, assessment of a school's needs, and identification of local resources. The functions of SAC are primarily to assist in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan and to assist in the preparation of the school budget. Saint Clair Evans Academy SAC meets every third Thursday of the month at 4:30 PM. SAC Chair: Iva Smith Our neighborhood school is committed to developing the whole child, and offers many programs and events to engage children in addition to our rigorous academics and innovative technology. Current programs: *Just say "No" Parade - Each grade level spends Red Ribbon week teaching drug prevention and the affects of drug usage. We end the week with our parade though the neighborhood surrounding our school. *MLK Program: This program features the grade levels in song and dance all with a black history theme! *Spelling bee *TV Production Studio: students set up and run our morning news show *"Are you smarter than a SCEA fifth grader?": On Monday, 5th grade students announce an academic trivia question on the morning news show. Students have until Thursday to answer the question. Winners are announced on Friday's news show. Saint Clair Evans Academy counts on reliable 5th grade students to help with morning arrivals, afternoon dismissals, flag raising ceremonies, and as leaders of the school. Read on to find out how to become part of this important team! Students, I know you have seen our school safety patrols in the hallways and some of them open your car door for you in the morning and afternoon. Have you ever wondered how you get picked to be a patrol? First you need to make all As in conduct. You are not allowed to be late for school. If you are tardy a lot, you won't be considered. You can't be absent a lot, either. You have an important job to do and there are not extra patrols to take your place when you are absent- Mr. Williams
Saint Clair Evans Academy Student Council plays a very important role in every school. They help share students’ ideas, interests, and concerns with the teachers and principal. They help the students raise funds for school wide projects. They assist the community when they are in need of aid. Being on Student Council is something that will help our students become responsible and active members of the community. Representatives:
