Southside
Middle School combines a rigorous academic curriculum,
foreign language, technology, art, and music (band and music
appreciation), coupled with before and after school tutoring
programs to create an environment in which students can
reach their full potential.
Our
dedication to the success of all students was recognized
more than two decades ago, when we were named a National
Model School and our commitment to excellence continues
today. Our teachers average fifteen years of classroom
experience and almost one-third hold advance degrees. All of
our teachers participate in www.schoolnotes.com in an effort to
allow parents/guardians to work closely with their child’s
teachers to promote academic success.
Southside
Middle School offers a variety of academic assistance programs for
students: Team-Up and Grade Recovery (after school
programs), Morning RAMP-Up Lab, Pre-Graduation Initiative,
Standards-Based Promotion Programs and Study Skills classes.
Southside
Middle has a full athletic department (all sports and
cheerleading) and a variety of extracurricular and
community services oriented activities which include;
National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, school
newspaper and yearbook (that includes student writers and
photographers), YNOTME (mentorship club for boys )and Ladies
of Excellence (mentorship program for girls).
Southside
Middle School has a variety of active Business Partners that
support the school through donations, student incentives and
mentorship. NAS JAX Transient Unit
became our partner through the adopt-a-school program
last year and we would like to welcome
Community First Bank
as our new Business Partner this year.
