Extended Day
The Extended Day Program for students in Duval County is defined as before and after school enrichment in the school attended by students of working parents, grades Pre-K through 5. PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS In 1976, the Duval County School Board deemed before and after school enrighment programs a viable and necessary service that would be provided throughout the Community Education Department for students of working parents. In May 1987, the school board voted to expand the programs to all elementary schools with twenty-five or more students requesting the service. The programs were instituted to supplement and broaden educational enrichment opportunities for children in Duval county. Specifically, programs were redesigned to enrich children’s lives educationally, socially, culturally, emotionally, physically, and to afford working parents this added opportunity for their children at a reasonable rate. DAYS AND HOURS OF OPERATION The Extended Day program shall operate only on days school is in session for students and will consist of two sessions daily. A morning session from 7:00-8:30 A.M. and an afternoon session from 3:00-6:00 P.M. Theses hours are rigidly adhered to. Directors: Ms. Stovall and Mr. Nettleship Phone: 565-2706 x 2310
