Summer Grade Recovery Programs
Duval County Public Schools will host several free summer school opportunities
for elementary, middle and high school students in need of promotion or credit/course recovery.
Elementary Recovery Programs
Dates: June 17 - July 26, 2013
Time: 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Summer Reading Course Recovery for Grade 3
If your third-grade child would have been promoted to the next grade
except he or she
failed
READING only on the report card, this 6-week program is for you. Students will be engaged in a rigorous
standards-based reading program to prepare for a grade level exit benchmark test. Attendance policy applies.
All students will attend one of twelve summer school sites.
- Summer FCAT Recovery and Summer Reading Course Recovery Sites for Grade 3
- Summer Reading Course Recovery for Grades 4 and 5
If your fourth- or fifth-grade child would have
been promoted to the next grade except he or she
failed
READING only on the report card, this six-week program is
for you. Students will be engaged in a rigorous
standards-based reading program to prepare for a grade
level exit benchmark test. Attendance policy applies.
All students will attend one of only four summer school
sites.
- Summer Reading Course Recovery Sites for Grades 4 and 5
- Summer Mathematics Course Recovery for Grades 3 - 5
If your third-, fourth- or fifth-grade child would have been promoted to
the next grade except he or she
failed MATH only on the report card, this 6-week
program is for you. Students will be engaged in a rigorous standards-based mathematics
program to prepare for a grade level exit benchmark test. Attendance policy applies.
All students will attend one of only four summer school sites.
- Summer Mathematics Course Recovery Sites
Middle/High School Recovery Programs
Dates: June 18 - July 27, 2013
Time: 7:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
- Middle and High School Course Recovery
If your middle or high school student needs to recover a one credit course
or two half-credit courses, this 6-week, half-day program is for you.
Students may attend one of four middle schools or five high school sites for work through
face-to-face teacher lead instruction in core courses or
via a teacher and computer supported instructional model. At middle school, Grade 8 students
needing one class for promotion will receive top priority. Attendance policy applies.

- High School Course Recovery Sites
- Algebra I; Geometry; and Biology EOC/Course Recovery
Programs
If your middle or high school student needs to recover Algebra 1,
Geometry, or Biology credit and/or
its perspective End of Course (EOC) exams, this six (6) week program is for you. This program will
cover the fundamental concepts of algebra. Students will also receive remediation that will
prepare them for the retaking EOC exam. Students may attend one of five (5) school sites for
teacher lead half day or full day instruction sessions for recovery
of EOC tested courses. Grade 9 students needing recovery
will receive top priority. Attendance policy applies.
Full day sessions are based upon specific
performance measures.
