  • The Duval Art Teachers Association Principal of the Year
The 2009 DATA Principal of the Year is Susan Phillips, principal at Chets Creek Elementary School. Ms. Phillips was presented a one-of-kind glass palette created by Skye Schwarzer and Sherry Greenhut. Each year, the Duval Art Teachers Association selects a principal whose philosophy and actions undergird the belief that the arts are an important part of a child's education. Runners-Up were principals Carol Daniels/Paxon School for Advanced Placement, and Janelle Wagonner/LaVilla School of the Arts. Click here for more!

  • Painterly Palettes
The Duval Art Teachers Association will once again raffle “Painterly Palettes” as a means to raise funds for the Leslie Beddard Scholarship. Click here to view this year's palettes. Such artists as Larry Davis, Nofa Dixon, Paul Ladnier, and Barry Wilson are just a few of the artists who have created palettes. Tickets are $1.00 each or 25 for $20 and can be purchased from any Duval County art teacher or you may call 390-2677 to arrange purchases. The raffle drawing will take place Friday, January 22, 2010. You do not have to be present to win.

DATA acts as a forum for which teachers may bring issues of concern to the front lines. These issues are further addressed at the administrative level in our school system as well as at the state level through the Florida fine arts Association (FAEA).

Many members of DATA are practicing artists. The organization sponsors two shows per year: The Fall Thematic Show and the Spring Art Show, which is a juried exhibit.

DATA also presents the annual Fabulous Flamingo fundraiser.
