elementary school art programs

Every elementary school has an art program taught by a certified art teacher. School art resource programs are supported by district funding.  The general guidelines, MS Word document and PowerPoint for art resource services outlines a program of 60 uninterrupted minutes of art every other week for grades 1-5.  A minimum of 45 minutes every other week for kindergarten students.  Click here to view the Curriculum Guide and Handbook for Duval County art teachers.  Click here to view lesson plans

Florida Sunshine State Standards for the Visual Arts
Elementary art teachers write and teach lessons that address the Sunshine State Standards. The standards help teachers to account for what children should be able to do in each developmental year in the elementary school. These standards can be found online via the Florida Department of Education by clicking here.

Grade Level Expectations
The Florida Department of Education (DOE) provides performance expectations for children pre-K through grade 5. These are connected to the Sunshine State Standards for Visual Arts. These standards can be found online via the Florida Department of Education by clicking here.
