At the July School Board Meeting,
Lake Forest Elementary School principal Kim Bays was
honored by the Duval Art Teachers Association as
“Principal of the Year”. Ms. Bays was nominated by her
art teacher, Michelle Goodman.
Each year, the Association honors a
principal with a unique ceramic award created by
Jacksonville artist and Cummer Museum Educator Glendia
Cooper. This is the sixth year the Association has
presented the award.
Members of DATA are given the
opportunity to nominate their principal. Consideration
is given to those principals who have made great strides
to place emphasis on the visual arts in their school and
who see the importance of the arts in children’s lives.
