Curriculum
Curriculum descriptions can be found on the Florida Department of Education website.
Click here for the Art Handbook.

Not all coded curriculum is taught in Duval County Schools. Some schools are afforded the opportunity to teach more expanded curriculum given the nature of the school (ie: Douglas Anderson and LaVilla Schools of the Arts, Stanton College Preparatory and Paxon School for Advanced Studies).

Advanced Placement (AP) art courses are provided at all high schools and International Baccalaureate (IB) art courses are provided at selected magnet schools.

Textbooks
School art programs are provided with textbook dollars to purchase state adopted textbooks for drawing, painting, art appreciation and art history, clay, sculpture, and photography.

The Artist-In-Education Program
This program, originated in 1979, is provided through a contract between DCPS and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.  A professional artist is contracted to work with both teachers and students to develop skills that may be in of strengthening, in to broaden an otherwise strong program.  Visits may range from one hour to several weeks dependent upon the focus
