Not all
coded curriculum is taught in Duval County
Schools. Some schools are afforded the
opportunity to teach more expanded
curriculum given the nature of the school
(ie:
Douglas Anderson and
LaVilla Schools of the Arts,
Stanton College Preparatory and
Paxon School for Advanced Studies).
Advanced
Placement (AP) art courses are provided at
all high schools and
International Baccalaureate (IB) art
courses are provided at selected magnet
schools.

Textbooks
School art programs are provided with
textbook dollars to purchase state adopted
textbooks for drawing, painting, art
appreciation and art history, clay,
sculpture, and photography.
• The
Artist-In-Education Program
This program, originated in 1979, is provided
through a contract between DCPS and the Cultural Council
of Greater Jacksonville. A professional artist is
contracted to work with both teachers and students to
develop skills that may be in of strengthening, in to
broaden an otherwise strong program. Visits may
range from one hour to several weeks dependent upon the
focus
