Sample Request Letter
If you feel that you meet the requirements for a scholarship, apply! Give the scholarship committee a chance to decide who should get the award. If you don't apply, it's certain you won't get it.
Most programs have fairly complicated lists of requirements for applications and a phone call is not sufficient. Writing will insure you receive accurate and complete information.
A sample letter is provided below to give you an idea of what to include in your letter. Make sure that you proof your letter carefully for spelling and grammar errors. Type the letter or handwrite it on appropriate stationery. Remember the letter of inquiry represents you and you want it to represent you well. Always enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Atlanta, Georgia 99999
Dear Mr. Moneybags:
I am currently a senior at Duval County High School and will be applying to the State University System for the fall Business Program. I am interested in obtaining further information and an application for your scholarship program. It would be helpful in meeting deadline requirements to have this information as quickly as possible. I have enclosed a self-addressed, stamped envelope for your convenience.
Thank you for your attention to this request.
Sincerely,
Jan Hopeful
