Professional Development

Professional Development is provided to teachers at the district level through workshops and at the school level by trained science resource teachers and teacher leaders. Workshops include both science content based on standards and strategies for teaching and learning.

All registration for the workshops below is through the Schultz Center.

Step One:
Become a Registered User of the Portal
  1. Go to https://schultzcenter.duvalschools.org and click the "Register" button.
  2. Select your employer (Duval County Public Schools). Click Submit.
  3. Select your birth month, date and year.
  4. Type in your name exactly as it appears on your paycheck.
  5. Click Submit
  6. Create a login name and password.
  7. Enter in your Social Security Number (you will be the only person who sees this).
  8. Select your grade and subject assignment.
  9. Click Save.
     
  • If you get the message, “This social security number already exists in the system”, please contact Paty Savage to find out what your login name and password is.
  • If you get the message, “Your information have not been uploaded. Contact your employer”. Instead of contacting the HR department, contact Paty Savage and she will assist you with registering.
Step Two:
Register for a Workshop Using the Poral
  1. Go to http://schultzcenter.duvalschools.org
  2. Login using your login name and password
  3. Click the "Go" button next to, "Register for Courses".
  4. In the Quick Search, select the desired subject from the subject area drop down list, e.g. "CRISS". (Tip: Do not select any other search criteria.)
  5. Click "Search".
  6. Scroll down to the desired workshop
  7. Click the Enroll button next to the desired dates.
  8. Click the checkbox next to "I will bring a check or voucher for $0.00". (THERE IS NO FEE FOR ANY WORKSHOP!)
  9. Click "Save".
  10. After you've enrolled in a course, click the link, Personal Folder. This will take you to your Personal Folder. Click the tab, "My Enrolled Courses". You will see the course that you just enrolled in listed there! This is your confirmation of your enrollment.
  • NOTE: You will not get a written, phoned in, or emailed confirmation. Use the online portal to see what workshops you have enrolled in. Log in and access your “Message Center”. They are listed there under “My Enrolled Courses”.
