ACE Plan
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a Long Range Plan for Magnet
Programs?
- A Long Range Plan will set some guidelines
and ideas that help focus our decisions and help
the district coordinate our plans for Magnet
Programs alongside other district work.
- How do I get involved?
- Working groups of teachers, parents and
community members have been formed to do some of
the more detailed work and these groups will
provide some preliminary ideas which can be
reviewed on-line (available around the middle of
June 2009). Also, we will be having
community
meetings on June 30th and
July 14th to present these same
preliminary ideas and to gather your input.
- My student attends a magnet program, how
will my school be affected?
- Creating specific plans for specific schools
is not the purpose of the Long Range Plan The
Long Range Plan will set out guidelines and
principles which will help the District make
consistent and focused decisions and help us
make progress towards the four School Board
Goals A, B, C & D.
- My student DOES NOT attend a magnet
program, should I be interested in this process and
will my school be affected?
- As we mentioned, creating specific plans for
specific schools is not the purpose of the Long
Range Plan. But, you may be interested in a
magnet program in the future or you may be
interested in what effects having magnet
programs has on the District in general.
- When will changes be made, if any there
are any changes?
- Work will be continuing this Summer and into
the Fall. Decisions about the Long Range Plan
and reviews with Superintendent and School Board
are expected sometime in the Aug. through Oct.
2009 timeframe. We will continue to update the
information on this website as we finalize the
material and the dates.
- How can I provide my feedback?
- Who should be involved?
- We would like feedback from everyone who has
an interest in the success of students in Duval
County Public schools. Please provide your
feedback to us either at one of our community
meetings or on-line. And tell your friends and
neighbors to get involved as well. We want to
hear from you!
