Work Order Information
The maintenance work order is the key to receiving a timely response to your school's maintenance needs. It is important to understand that work orders are generated by calling your maintenance regional dispatcher and providing him/her with the building and room numbers and a brief description of the repair needed.
The most frequent mistake school personnel make is to confuse capital improvement needs with maintenance needs. A maintenance need can be identified as anything having to do with keeping a school in a satisfactory state of repair. A capital improvement need is best described as new construction or remodeling of any type. Capital improvement needs must be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent of Facilities Services through the Regional Superintendents.
Work orders are broken down into four categories:
- Emergency: Critical health, safety or security needs. (Corrected within 24 hours)
- Immediate: High priority, but does not qualify as an emergency. (Corrected within 72 hours)
- Routine: Does not qualify as an emergency or immediate need. (Corrected within 30 days)
- Deferred: Can be delayed for extended periods. ( Response time determined by available funding and priority)
