The Teacher Induction Program (TIP) assists and supports teachers new to Duval County. Site-based mentors are provided to new teachers as they move through their first years of teaching. The mentors observe and coach our new teachers. Each school also has a Professional Development Facilitator (PDF) who coordinates the Teacher Induction Program at their school. Additionally, workshops are conducted throughout the district for new teachers by the District’s Cadre. Topics for the workshops include but are not limited to: Rituals and Routines; Instructional Strategies; Effective Communication and Conferencing; Diversity; Lesson Planning; and Ethics. These workshops provide a forum for new teachers to talk with one another and share ideas and concerns. Each year, an estimated 1000 teachers participate in the Teacher Induction Program.
