EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

The Duval County School Police Department (DCSPD) is currently hiring qualified Florida Certified Law Enforcement Officers.

The DCSPD complies with federal, state, and local regulations and provides equal access and equal employment and services on a nondiscriminatory basis to all persons seeking employment.  To join the DCSP team, a qualified candidate will complete an online application and successfully complete the following: Polygraph, Background, Oral Board, and medical and psychological examinations. 

DCSPD currently has three units in its agency:

Patrol Officers:

This unit patrols district properties while handling burglaries, vandalisms, trespassers, and the myriad of law enforcement activities.

This is a twelve month position with an annual starting salary of $34,992, plus benefits.

School Resource Officers (SRO):

This unit works at the schools during school hours assisting the school administration with both criminal and non-criminal issues.  Officers must have at least one year of law enforcement experience to qualify for this position.

The SRO position has two salary schedules:

  • Ten month salary of $27,620, plus benefits.  On this schedule the SRO will be off various dates throughout the year including having the summer off from one week after school concludes until one week prior to school starting. (Work Calendar)

  • Twelve month salary of $34,992, plus benefits.  On this schedule officers work all twelve months of the year.  Officers will work at the schools during summer school, receive and give training, and assist the patrol division in patrolling district properties.

Investigative:

This unit conducts investigations of criminal offenses committed on school property, conducts approved stakeouts and other special assignments, conducts threat assessments, issues trespass warnings, participates in student/parent conferences with school principal when needed, and conducts pre-employment background investigations. 

This is a twelve month position with an annual starting salary of $38,750, plus benefits.  Officers must have had at least four years of law enforcement experience, one year of which must have included working with juvenile offenders and two years of which must have been in criminal investigation.
