Tech Prep Success Stories |

The First Coast Tech Prep Consortium works with Florida Community College at Jacksonville and Duval County Public Schools
to create seamless career-technical education programs that begin in high school and continue through to a college technical
certificate, an associate degree in college and beyond. Tech Prep programs stress academics and technical skills.
Skills training: It's not enough to know "about" something, you must
also know how to "do" something. Currently, 65% of
the fastest growing occupations require some postsecondary education or training.
By 2010, 42% of all U.S. jobs will require a vocational certificate, associate
degree, bachelor’s degree or higher.
Academic preparation:Students begin Tech Prep in high school focusing on higher academics and technical skills and then link
their high school studies with at least two years at an Orange or Osceola county technical school or Valencia Community College.
This can lead to a two-year certificate, associate's or a four-year college degree.
Earn Tuition Free College or Workforce Credits while in high school: Tech
Prep programs promote FCCJ’s dual enrollment program
allowing qualified students to take college classes beginning in the 11th
grade.
Save Time and Money: By earning college credit while in high school, students make a smooth transition between high school
and college by not duplicating coursework and saving time and tuition/book money.
