The
Duval County School Board held a special meeting
this morning to discuss the contract of
Superintendent Joseph J. Wise. After short
discussion, the board voted 6-1 to terminate Dr.
Wise’s contract for cause. Before recessing, the
Board asked its General Counsel to prepare proper
paperwork and voted to continue the meeting
tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 4 p.m. to
review General Counsel’s suggestions and take a
formal vote.
Starting
immediately, Superintendent Wise is on
Administrative Leave.
The
Board voted to give Ed Pratt-Dannals, a 30-year
veteran teacher, principal and administrator of
Duval County Public Schools, delegation of authority
over the School district until the Board makes a
final decision.
“The
District has a strong team in place and we will
continue to focus on student achievement, teaching
and learning,” said Ed Pratt-Dannals. We are
staying the course and will work with the Board to
provide quality education for all students in Duval
County Public Schools.”
