Ed Pratt-Dannals, is a longtime Duval County
school employee who has served as the system's
second-in-command since previous Superintendent John
Fryer.
He started working in the Duval County school
system in 1976 as a math teacher at John Gorrie
Junior High and rose through the ranks as a
principal, regional superintendent, associate
superintendent for curriculum and instruction and
chief academic officer. He was named deputy
superintendent this month and supervised other top
school officials.
He is completing a doctorate in educational
leadership from the University of Florida, which he
expects to finish in 2009. His focus is on large,
urban school district reform. He holds a master's
degree in education from the University of North
Florida, a bachelor's degree from Georgia State
University.
