Duval County Public Schools
recently released the results of their Strategic Plan
for the 2010/2011 school year.
The original Strategic Plan
was launched in May 2008 and provides the district with
guidance and direction to ensure that all internal and
external stakeholders in the district have a clear
understanding of what we expect to achieve and how we
expect to achieve it. It also helps assess the
effectiveness of our action plans, programs, and
resource allocations to see what we should continue,
discontinue, or modify.
“The Strategic Plan provides
a clear set of measurable objectives that allows us to
review our progress and determine where there are areas
in need of improvement,” said Duval County Public
Schools’ Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals. “The strategic
plan remains one of the most comprehensive and dynamic
plans in the country.”
Based on the data, 77%
percent of the objectives in the Strategic Plan were
either achieved or improved from the previous year.
A highlight of the review is
the graduation rate, which is improving at a rate well
above the state while meeting more rigorous standards.
At the same time that the graduation rate is improving,
the number of students prepared for college is
increasing.
There are 65 objectives
within six major Goals of the Strategic Plan:
Goal 1:
Increase Academic Achievement for All Students
Goal 2:
Significantly Increase the Graduation Rate
Goal 3:
Employ the Best Teachers and Principals
Goal 4:
Establish Safe, Secure and Respectful Schools
Goal 5:
Engage Family and Community Support
Goal 6:
Deliver High Quality Support for Schools
