Seeds of
Change Summer JOBS Program
With summer break quickly
approaching, the City of Jacksonville is gearing up for
its second year of the “Mayor’s Seeds of Change Summer
JOBS Program.”
Created to provide
Jacksonville’s youth with workplace skills and a strong
foundation for career building, the program also makes
good business sense for our community. Together, we can
help positively impact and cultivate the workforce of
tomorrow, and set an example in our community for others
to follow for years to come.
Jacksonville students ages 16
– 21 are invited to apply for a five-week summer
employment opportunity. The City has partnered with
WorkSource, who will match students’ interests and
skills to specific needs in 200 local government jobs
and 300 private sector jobs. Additionally, to make sure
everyone makes the most of this fantastic opportunity,
supplemental training and support will be offered to
program participants.
Program representatives have
already started visiting six high schools which serve
the two Seeds of Change pilot neighborhoods. Visits to
Jean Ribault, Andrew Jackson, and William M. Raines high
schools have already taken place, but representatives
still have several visits planned for the following
schools:
- Stanton College
Preparatory School—Tuesday, April 3 from 11
a.m. to 2 p.m.
- A. Philip Randolph
Academies of Technology—Wednesday, April 4 from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Terry Parker High
School—Thursday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m.
If students at any of the
participating high schools are interested in joining the
Seeds of Change Summer JOBS program, please encourage
them to visit with program representatives at their
schools, or call W.D. Robinson at 390-2511. For
