"Just Read It" Stars of the Month

The Mike Peterson Foundation and Duval County Public Schools announced the December Star of the Month for the Mike Peterson Foundation's "Just Read It" Program. The stars were invited to a meet and greet on December 5th at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, which included an exclusive behind the scenes tour and a special visit with Jacksonville Jaguar Linebacker, Mike Peterson.

Students were selected based on their outstanding achievements in reading. These students worked very hard following directions in the classroom, as well as continuing to improve their reading skills.

Congratulations to the following students for being December's Star Readers.

Lake Lucina Student Wins 3-A-Day Jaguars Way Youth Poster Contest

Lauren Dixon, a fourth-grade Lake Lucina Elementary School student, has been selected as the first-place winner in the 2007 3-A-Day Jaguars Way Youth Poster Contest, co-sponsored by the Jacksonville Jaguars and The Dairy Council of Florida.

Students participating in the 3-A-Day Jaguars Way Youth Poster Contest were encouraged to create posters that depicted the importance of incorporating three servings of dairy into their daily diets, while showing support for the Jaguars.

As the first-place winner, Lauren and her class took a field trip to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. She also received four tickets and a parking pass to the Dec. 9 home game against the Carolina Panthers. Additionally, Lauren’s teacher, Noelle Milnes, received two tickets and a parking pass to the game.
