Duval County Public Schools
serves many different people. As a result, we have
developed a new web site that serves as a one-stop shop
for parents, students, staff, and anyone else from the
community who wants to know more about our public school
system. Our district’s web site has the tall order of
addressing the needs of each of our intended audiences
without being too overwhelming.
For the past six months, the
communications department, with support from technology
staff, has been working to create a new web site that
will better suit the needs of all of our constituents.
We are excited to announce that as of February 1 our old
web address (www.educationcentral.org)
will be replaced with an updated and re-organized site
at a new web address (www.dreamsbeginhere.org).
When Superintendent Joseph
Wise joined Duval County more than a year ago, he
challenged us all with the task of inspiring and
encouraging students to dream bigger dreams and to never
cease the journey of realizing those dreams.
Appropriately, our district web site has changed to
reflect this dream, and to remind us all of our
purpose—to inspire, encourage and support our students.
For those of you who have
finally figured out where to go on our old site, do not
fret. Although it will take a little adjustment, the
new site is much easier to navigate. For those of you
who do not visit our old web site because it is too
overwhelming, please take a moment to visit our new site
at
www.dreamsbeginhere.org, and see the positive
changes for yourself.
When you access the new web
site at
www.dreamsbeginhere.org, you will see a new layout
that is more easily navigated, brighter and more vibrant
colors and several helpful tools including a “find a
school” drop down menu for quick and easy access to each
of our more than 160 schools; a “how do I…” drop down
menu to give access to the most frequently asked
questions; a “quick links” listing to provide instant
access to the most visited web pages on our site; and
updated news and features about our district. In
addition, there are icons at the top right of the page
that will take you directly to a site map, site search
function, contact page, and school calendar.
We encourage you to utilize
our new site and to promote it with everyone whom you
meet who may have an interest in Duval County Public
Schools.
