Student
Wins Achievement in Writing Award
Last month, the National
Council of Teachers of English honored 595 high school
seniors as outstanding writers in the 2007 National
Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards in
Writing. These recipients were chosen from 1,937
students nominated in their junior year by their
teachers, from the 50 states, District of Columbia,
Virgin Islands, Canada and American schools abroad.
The Achievement Awards in
Writing program was established in 1957 to encourage
high school students in their writing and to recognize
publicly some of the best student writers in the
nation.
This year, Brett Lawrence, one of our students at
Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, was among the
students recognized for being one of the country’s most
outstanding writers. Brett received a certificate
recognizing her as a superior writer and cards
highlighting her achievement to attach to college
application forms. |
