Payment Options
Effective November 1, 2007,
DCPS will no longer offer payroll deductions for
authorized processes for certificates, name changes,
duplicates and additions based on passing an appropriate
subject area examination and the completion of an
approved district program. Please bring a check or money
order with applications for recertification services as
applications without proper payment will not be
accepted.

Thomas Jefferson Elementary
School is celebrating their 80th anniversary
with an Old-Time Barn Dance on Friday, November 2 from
6-9 p.m. at the school which is located at 8233 Nevada
Street. Activities include sing-alongs, storytelling,
dining and a host of other festivities. Please plan to
attend and join the fun of this joyous occasion.

Make A Difference Day
Saturday, October 27, is
National Make A Difference Day. Make A Difference Day is
the most encompassing national day of helping others --
a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone
can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A
Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on
the fourth Saturday of every October. Anyone, young and
old, individuals and groups, anyone can carry out a
volunteer project that helps others. It might be as
ambitious as collecting truckloads of clothing for the
homeless, or as personal as spending an afternoon
helping an elderly neighbor or relative. To find out how

School Bus Safety Week
October 22–26 is National
School Bus Safety Week. This year’s theme is “Be Aware!
Cross with Care.” National School Bus Safety Week is an
active and evolving public education program designed to
promote school bus safety. The centerpiece of National
School Bus Safety week is a National School Bus Safety
Week Poster Contest for all public school elementary
