Together We can
Employee Committee
Promotes Teamwork, Improved Customer Service
The “Together We Can”
Committee, led by Terri Cicero and Marilyn Myrick, met
on September 26 to chart the task force’s course
forward. The committee is establishing monthly focuses
on aspects of teamwork and customer service, creation of
a logo that visually explains the panel’s mission and a
“Great Employee Moment” recognition campaign were
discussed.
The “Together We Can”
Committee had its genesis this summer with the goal of
creating an awareness of the importance of a friendly,
cooperative and collaborative workforce among employees
at all levels in the Prudential Drive administration
building. The committee’s presence first surfaced in
August when volunteers greeted employees arriving for
work with snacks and treats as they entered the front
door or exited the elevators. Volunteers sporting
“Together We Can” buttons welcomed DCPS to the new
school year.
“Each of us is busy in our
own little department doing our work,” Cicero explained
to the committee, “we can help all employees connect the
dots. After all, no matter our job or position, we’re
all here to support achievement.” Change is constant
and difficult, Myrick conceded, “and the ‘Together We
Can’ effort can help us all take bigger steps as we move
forward.”
The committee has drafted a
set of “guidelines for success” for administration
building employees. They include: “We all work to help
our students and teachers achieve success in our schools
and community; “No department or individual works
independently – we all contribute to the success of the
organization; “Give the dignity and respect that you
wish to receive; “Exceed the expectations of internal
and external customers; “Believe in yourself and others;
“Embrace the idea ‘my work does matter’; “Work together
in assisting each other to achieve our common goals; and
“Enjoy your work.”
