Educator Appreciation Week
April 26 through May 4 is Educator Appreciation Week at Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Pre K-12 educators save 25% on classroom and personal purchases, including 10% on DVDs and CDs. Certain restriction apply so call or visit your local Barnes & Noble Booksellers for more information.
Additionally, refreshments, personal shoppers and free giveaways will be held during a special presentation by local author Edward Baldwin on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at the 11112 San Jose Boulevard location.
National Volunteer Week
April 27-May 3 has been designated National Volunteer Week. This year’s theme is "Volunteer to Change the World.” National Volunteer Week reflects the power that volunteers have to “inspire by example” — volunteers both encourage those they help and motivate others to serve!
Online Training for all DCPS Employees
Learning from the Comfort of Your Easy Chair
Offered to you at no cost is an opportunity to participate in professional development from the comfort of your desk, sofa or easy chair. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to drive from one end of the city to the other. During any time of the day, that's a long way to drive for training. Take the stress out of driving and enjoy online training from a relaxed environment.

- Who can participate in online training? All Duval County Public Schools employees.
- When can an employee participate in the training? 24/7 - 365 days per year.
- Where can I access the training? Any computer that has Internet access.
- What type of courses are available? Microsoft Office Suite, Laptop Training, Integrating Technology in the Classroom courses, and over 84 Soft Skills (personal/professional development) courses.
- What are the benefits? Self awareness, personal and professional development, enhanced knowledge and Professional Certificate (educators) renewal points.
- What is the cost? Free!
- How many courses may I take? You may take as many courses as you wish.
- How can I access the courses? You can access the courses on the Internet at (duval.howtomaster.com). Do not include http:// or www. Insert your eight-digit employee number (example: 00001234) and the password is "password."

Dinner with a Difference
The Jacksonville Human Rights Commission and OneJax presents “Dinner with a Difference,” Tuesday, May 6 at the Bethelite Conference Center, 5865 Arlington Expressway. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Come out and enjoy food, fellowship and an opportunity to participate in the unique Study Circle dialogue process.
