The Duval County School Board approved a partnership with First Coast Crime Stoppers at their September 2007 meeting. This partnership enables our students to participate in a Crime Stopper Program specifically designed for them to be an active part in their schools' safety.
Student Crime Stoppers is an anonymous tip line that offers up to $100 for information about criminal acts in schools. Students who step forward with anonymous tips leading to arrests will be eligible for cash awards through the program, which is based on a recognized model.
School and police officials agree that most students want to do the right thing to keep their schools and neighborhoods safe but sometimes fear reprisals. The Student Crime Stoppers Program offers the safety of complete anonymity, while promoting responsibility and allowing students to take action against victimization and crime. Students can call the Tip Hotline at 1.866.845.TIPS (8477).
First Coast Crime Stoppers is an international organization that has been in operation for more than 30 years. First Coast Crime Stoppers covers six counties in Northeast Florida, and Duval County is one of five school districts in their coverage areas to have the Student Crime Stoppers Programs.
