A letter from our Superintendent: Thank You!

DCPS employees...

As the 2007-2008 academic year draws to an end, I would like to take this time to say, “Thank you.” Thank you for all the hard work each of you have done to make this year a success. Thank you for your commitment to our students and the district’s mission and vision, and most of all, thank you for accepting and embracing me as your new superintendent.

This year has brought both changes and challenges. Changes in the district’s leadership and challenges with the district’s finances. However, as your superintendent, I want you to know that we remain dedicated to the district’s commitment of ensuring that every Duval County public school is a high-performing organization, both academically and operationally.

Along with these changes and challenges we were able to achieve great success. The district’s graduation rate increased by four percentage points, we broke ground on the district’s first new high school in more than 20 years and four of our schools were listed among the nation’s best high schools.

Again, thanks for all you have done for Duval County Public Schools. Have a wonderful summer, and I look forward to working with you next school year.

Sincerely,

Ed Pratt-Dannals
Superintendent
