The Parent Resource Center at Smart Pope
Livingston Elementary provides educational materials for
parents, students and teachers to help their children
with homework and other developmental activities.
Director Debra Keels walks us through the center and
explains the need for the students and their families.
Although housed at S.P. Livingston, all Title I schools
can take advantage of what the center has to offer. Tune
in to share in the resources!
Darnell-Cookman School of the Medical
Arts offers students a well rounded education of the
medical studies by providing students with knowledge of
the medical field while also providing advanced, honors
and Advanced Placement courses. The integration of the
medical profession within the everyday curriculum gives
the students the opportunity to see how the field of
medicine can apply to just about every situation in
life. REAL School follows the students to the University
of Florida’s and Shands Medical Center Simulation
Center, which uses life-like models to teach techniques
used in real emergency situations. Tune in to see what
is in store for these future medical professionals!
After being open just three years, New
Berlin Elementary already has the community support
needed to make any event successful. The annual Literacy
Bash provides the students with alternative ways to read
for fun and is also a favorite within the community.
This year’s event was themed “Literacy Beach Bash,” to
coincide with the school’s theme of “Ride the Tide and
Discover New Depths.” Along with various activities,
several reading stations were available for the students
to experience with their parents and friends. The
Literacy Pumpkins on display in the Media Center were
created by each class and the students were able to vote
on their favorite. Come along and ride the tide!
“REAL School” is produced monthly by
WJCT-TV and the Communications Department of Duval
County Public Schools. Students David Emmanuel and
Hannah Maria Roder host “REAL School” which airs the
first Sunday of every month at 10 a.m. Broadcasted
first-run on WJCT-TV, Channel 7 and Comcast cable
channel 8, “REAL School” is also televised each Monday
at 9 p.m. on Comcast cable channel 29 after its
premiere. |
