Duval County Public Schools Seeks District Accreditation

Efforts are underway at Duval County Public Schools to earn District Accreditation from AdvancED’s Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). District Accreditation will bring prestige to students, parents, teachers, principals and other DCPS employees, the Duval County School Board and all residents of Duval County.

Currently, all of the Duval County Public Schools are fully accredited by SACS CASI. Through this long-established method of accrediting schools, individual schools are reviewed each year for accreditation eligibility.

District Accreditation is not a stand-alone process; rather, it serves as an umbrella of framework that supports system-wide continuous improvement focused directly on improving learning for all students.

Next month, a Quality Assurance Review Team (QART) will visit Duval County to evaluate and confirm our work. The QART will go around to various departments and schools to meet with employees.

As employees, it’s very important that you know what drives our district – our mission, our vision and core beliefs which serve as the foundation upon which the board will rely to guide all policy decisions and actions.

Attached are documents containing DCPS’ Mission and Vision, and the Core Beliefs and Commitments, which were adopted by our school board in 2006.
