A Letter from Superintendent Pratt-Dannals: Welcome Back

As I traveled to many of our schools this week, I was encouraged by the wonderful things I witnessed. I saw more than 80 students who decided to stay at Andrew Jackson, Raines and Ribault high schools instead of utilizing the Opportunity Scholarship program to transfer to other schools; I saw North Shore K-8 welcome its first class of seventh-graders; and I witnessed the excitement of students and staff at Rutledge Pearson Elementary over receiving a school grade of A.

As employees of Duval County Public Schools, each of you play an important role in the lives of our students, and I appreciate your enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism as we work toward becoming one of the best large urban school districts in the nation.

With your help, we will continue to increase the academic achievement for all students, employ the best teachers and principals, and establish safe, secure and respectful schools. I am confident that working together, we will provide more students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a global economy and culturally diverse world.

Thanks for all you do for Duval County Public Schools. I look forward to working with each of you as we enter this school year of unlimited possibilities.

Sincerely,
Ed Pratt-Dannals
