Required Employee Information Workshop

Human Resource Services will conduct its next Employee Information Workshop on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Englewood High School, 4412 Barnes Road. The workshop will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the school’s Media Center. All civil service and paraprofessional employees hired between October 1 and December 31, 2008 are required to attend. Nominations being accepted for 2009 Teacher/Professor of the Year

Each year during Engineer's Week, the engineering professionals of Northeast Florida recognize and honor a teacher and a professor in the area of math, science, or engineering. Professionals from the public or private middle schools, high schools and universities in Northeast Florida are eligible.

The Engineer's Week awards committee will accept and review one nomination from each middle and high school. The nominee should meet all criteria and all nomination packages must include a letter of recommendation from the school's principal. The deadline for submission is Friday, February 1, 2009. Keep Jax Beautiful Awards -- Accepting Nominations

The City of Jacksonville, in partnership with the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful campaign, is accepting nominations for the third annual Keep Jacksonville Beautiful awards. These awards showcase individuals, businesses, organizations and schools that are making strides to keep the city clean.

Applicants will be judged in three areas and should demonstrate that they have made outstanding and ongoing efforts in (1) beautification, (2) litter prevention, or (3) litter cleanup in Duval County. Nominees must complete an application, attach a summary of their achievements and any supporting documentation and send to: Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Award, Attention: Vivian Harrell, 1321 Eastport Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218, no later than Monday, Feb. 16. The award will be presented at the Mayor's Environmental Luncheon.

Applications for the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Awards may be downloaded from the City of Jacksonville's Web site at www.coj.net keywords "Keep Jacksonville Beautiful." An application may also be requested by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the address listed above. Refer to the online award applications for more details.
