Duval County Announces Custodial Schools & Custodial Employee of the Year
Seabreeze Elementary School, Matthew Gilbert Middle School and Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center have been selected as the Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) and GCA Services Group, Inc. recipients of the 2008/2009 Custodial School of the Year Award.
Additionally, GCA employee Tommy Durham, the lead custodian at Rutledge Pearson Elementary School, was selected as the Custodial Employee of the Year.
The award for Custodial School of the Year is given to selected schools for outstanding custodial performance, management and cleanliness, and for maintaining the highest average score on evaluations throughout the school year.
One school is selected from each category: elementary, middle and high school/specialty school/admin center. Criteria for selection includes principal custodial report cards, zone/area manager inspections, custodial teamwork and cooperation, and principal/zone manager recommendation.
The custodians at each school are as follows, and are GCA employees unless otherwise noted: Seabreeze - Danilo Ignacio, Ruby Peavie, Guillermo Arostequi and Fannie Thomas (DCPS); Mathew Gilbert - Herbert Devoe, Demitra Singleton, James Mayzak, Patricia Frederick and Johnnie Smith; and Mt. Herman - Barbara McClinton, Lueala Robinson (DCPS) and Johnny Groover (DCPS).
