Marine Science Center’s Annual Fish Fry

The Marine Science Center will host its Annual Fish Fry on Thursday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out and enjoy free fish, sweet tea and a great time with other district personnel. The school is located at 1347 Palmer Street in the Mayport fishing village. Parking will be available in the lot across from where the LaCruise Restaurant used to be and along Palmer and Broad streets.


Wesconnett Elementary to Host Closing Celebration

Wesconnett Elementary School is bidding farewell after 80 years. They will host a Closing Celebration on Saturday, May 9, from 1-4 p.m. at the school. All school district personnel are invited to attend this celebration. Food will be provided, as well as many fun activities. They would love to have all people who have ever had any association with Wesconnett to attend and share their fond memories.


City of Jacksonville's Animal Arts Contest

The City of Jacksonville's Animal Care and Control Division invites Duval County students to participate in its Animal Arts Contest. They are asking students of all ages to draw, color, paint or sculpt a rendering of their favorite household animal. Contest winners will be selected per grade level and will have their art displayed in the new Animal Care and Control Shelter. Winners will also receive an award, which will be presented during the grand opening of the new shelter later this summer.

All entries should be submitted by May 22 to Christine Parker at: Animal Care and Control, 2580 West First St., Jacksonville, FL 32254.
