Superintendent's Message: Thank You Teachers
Today is Florida's Teacher Appreciation Day. In honor of this very special day, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the more than 8,700 teachers who dedicate their time to the mission and vision of Duval County Public Schools.
This year, our school district has achieved many successes, including unanimous approval for district accreditation, the highest level of accreditation that a school system can receive, an increase in our graduation rate, a decrease in our dropout rate, and continued progress toward meeting the goals in our Strategic Plan. Without the hard work of our teachers, none of this could have been possible.
We are the nation's 20th largest school district, with more than 123,000 students entrusted to our care daily. With so many children depending on us, it is important to highlight the positive impact teachers have on our students. Research has shown that the most important factor in determining the quality of the education a child receives is the quality of his or her teacher. Your commitment to teaching opens the door for every one of our students. You are truly helping to provide them with opportunities for the future.
In honor of this day, The Florida Department of Education has compiled the attached
Teacher Appreciation Discounts & More sheet with a list of discounts offered to Florida educators.
Again, thank you for your dedication and commitment.
Sincerely,
Ed Pratt-Dannals
Superintendent
