“REAL School” Gets New Hosts

Two Duval County students have a starring role as the new hosts of REAL School, Duval County Public Schools’ (DCPS) monthly news magazine TV show. Bailey Smith, a sixth-grade student at Landon Middle School, and Talia Fetner, an eighth grader at LaVilla School of the Arts, will begin taping the new season of the show this month.

Bailey and Talia were chosen during auditions held earlier this month for Duval County middle school students.

“The talent pool at this year’s auditions was incredible,” said Altoria White, DCPS’ video communications coordinator. “I am excited to see Bailey and Talia kick-off the 2009 season of REAL School.”

REAL School profiles teachers, students and programs that exemplify excellence throughout district. This season’s first episode, which airs Sunday, October 4th, will feature the Culinary Arts Program at Terry Parker High School, the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Program at Nathan B. Forrest High School and Westview K-8, the district’s first “green” school.

REAL School airs the first Sunday of every month at 10 a.m. on WJCT. It also re-airs on Comcast Cable channel 29 every Monday at 9 p.m.
