DCPS' Employees Receive Awards for Excellence in Education During Gala
On September 12, during the Sixth Annual Ebony and Ivory Gala, Duval County Public Schools' Deputy Superintendent, Patricia Willis, and 2009 Teacher of the Year, Marjorie Nolan, received 2009 Awards for Excellence in Education from the Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc.
"Both women are very deserving of this honor, and I am proud of their accomplishments and commitment to education," said Duval County Public Schools' Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals. "The dedication they both have for the students of Duval County is commendable, and I am grateful to each of them for their many years of service."
The ceremony, 'An Evening of Elegance,' was a black-tie affair where the 2009 Award Honorees - women who have made significant contributions in health, education and economic development - were recognized. Daniel, Inc., Florida's oldest children services agency, will also be honored during the event for its outstanding contributions.
The Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc. has been addressing the unmet needs of people of color to eliminate disparities in health, education, economic development and other areas that affect the equality and common good of the community.
