Atlantic Coast High School Boundaries Set

At its January meeting, the Duval County School Board approved the proposed boundary establishment for Atlantic Coast High School #268 and proposed boundary changes for Sandalwood High School #237, Englewood High School #90, Duncan Fletcher High School #223, Samuel W. Wolfson High School #224 and Mandarin High School #260. The approved item included an amendment that directed the Superintendent to review the boundaries each year for five years and determine any changes that might need to be made.

The new school is situated in an area that has experienced high growth for the past few years and will relieve overcrowding at surrounding schools: Sandalwood High School #237, Samuel W. Wolfson High School #224, Mandarin High School #260; and will involve reassignment of students to and from Englewood High School #90 and Duncan Fletcher High School #223.

The school will open in August 2010 serving grades 9 -11 and will add 12th grade for the 2011-2012 school year. Rising 12th graders residing in the attendance areas of impacted schools will be given a Special Transfer Option in order to remain at their current school for their senior year. Siblings of rising 12th graders may apply for a Special Transfer Option assignment to remain at current school through the regular lottery process.
