On
Tuesday, August 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Schultz
Center for Teaching & Leadership (4019 Boulevard Center
Drive), The Community Foundation in Jacksonville, United Way
of Northeast Florida, and Duval County Public Schools will
host Beyond the Bake Sale – a middle school summit.
The
goal of the summit is to bring together middle school
principals, district representatives, and members of the
Forum on Quality Education to learn from and share with one
another expert knowledge about critical transition issues
for middle school students.
Keynote speaker Karen L. Mapp will share strategies from her
book, Beyond the Bake Sale. Packed with tips from
principals and teachers, checklists, and an invaluable
resource section, Beyond the Bake Sale reveals how to
build strong collaborative relationships and offers
practical advice for improving interactions between parents
and teachers.
Summit participants
also will hear from a few of Duval County Public Schools’
business partners who have forged successful relationships
with the district.
