Duval County School Board Recognizes Students, Staff and Community
JACKSONVILLE -
At the monthly meeting of the Duval
County School Board, Board members and Superintendent Pratt-Dannals
recognized several groups of students, staff and a member of the community
for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County
Public Schools (DCPS).
During the
presentation portion of the meeting, which began at 6 p.m. in the Cline
Auditorium, 1701 Prudential Drive, the following people were recognized:
- Lucretia
Miller, media specialist at Chaffee Trail Elementary School, was
recognized for being named Duval County’s 2008 Teacher of the Year;
- Carol
McQueen, band director at LaVilla School of the Arts, was recognized for
being named Art Educator of the Year by the Cultural Council of Greater
Jacksonville;
- Paxon
Middle School was recognized for being the only middle school in
Northeast Florida to have the International Baccalaureate Middle Years
Programme;
- Madison
Lahey, seventh grade student at James Weldon Johnson, was recognized for
winning first place at the 2008 Florida History Fair;
- The
following students were recognized for receiving Aramark Education
Scholarships:

for receiving National Merit Scholarships:

- The
following students were recognized for receiving National Achievement
Scholarships:

- The
following students were recognized for receiving scholarships from the
Duval Association of Educational Office Professionals:

Ben Stinger, Paxon school for Advanced Studies;
- The
following schools PTA/PTSA chapters were recognized for increasing their
2007-2008 membership by 100 or more over the previous school year:

- The
