Duval County Public Schools hosts Community Dialogue meetings as
part of the Academic and Community Excellence (ACE) Plan
JACKSONVILLE – Duval County
Public Schools (DCPS) will host four community dialogue meetings to discuss
possible solutions to the utilization of our schools.
Since March, DCPS staff has been meeting with community members to develop a
long-range plan to ensure that our students are provided with equitable,
appropriate, flexible, safe and secure environments.
The goal is to provide a detailed demographic
and building condition analysis that will prepare the School Board for
future facility needs decisions.
“This process is unprecedented in Duval County, and
I am hopeful that the changes that will come out of these meetings will
maximize the educational opportunities for all students,” said
Superintendent of Duval County Public Schools, Ed Pratt-Dannals.
During four quadrant meetings, working groups made up of community
members will present possible scenarios for future facility needs in an
informal setting between parents and stakeholders. Through this process, 70
schools are being considered for potential boundary and/or consolidation in
neighborhoods throughout the county.
All meetings begin at 6 p.m. and are open to the public.
