Media Advisory: Veteran's Day Events
To honor our country’s veterans, various Duval County Public Schools are hosting Veterans’ Day events. Please review the following list of activities:
Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. - Enterprise Learning Academy (8085 Old Middleburg Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32222) will honor the military in a school-wide flag raising ceremony.
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 8:45 a.m. - Beauclerc Elementary (4555 Craven Rd. W., Jacksonville, FL 32257) will be presenting its Navy Band as they recognize our veterans during a patriotic performance. More than 1,000 elementary students will be in attendance for the celebration and will participate in an outdoor flag raising.
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. - Chaffee Trial Elementary (11400 Sam Caruso Way, Jacksonville, FL 32221) will be having a flag raising ceremony.
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 8:50 a.m. - Oak Hill Elementary (6910 Daughtry Blvd. S., Jacksonville, FL 32210) will be having a flag raising ceremony and students will be dressed as their favorite patriotic hero. All local military personnel are invited.
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 9 a.m. - Long Branch Elementary (3723 Franklin St., Jacksonville, FL 32206) will present representatives from NAS Jax with letters of appreciation students have written to active duty personnel, reservists and veterans. Students will also be performing patriotic songs, and will share their renditions of Jasper Johns flag art.
