Duval County School Board recognizes students, school
staff members and a community member during monthly meeting
JACKSONVILLE - At the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Board members and Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals recognized students, school staff members and a member of the community for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools (DCPS).
During the presentation portion of the meeting, which began at 6 p.m. in the Cline Auditorium, 1701 Prudential Drive, the following people were recognized:
- Lenelle Cruse, former Florida PTA President, was honored for her community service and acts of volunteerism to Duval County Public Schools;
- The following schools were recognized for their participation in the September Book of the Month Quilt Project hosted by the Greater Jacksonville Fair Association:
Arlington Heights Elementary, Chaffee Trail Elementary, Henry F. Kite Elementary, Jacksonville Heights Elementary, John E. Ford Elementary, Lake Lucina Elementary, Loretto Elementary, Louis Sheffield Elementary, Martin Luther King Elementary, Mayport Elementary, Mount Herman Exceptional Student Center, Pine Forest Elementary, R.L. Brown Elementary, Susie Tolbert Elementary, St. Clair Evans Academy, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary; and
- The following students were honored for being named winners in the 2008 Truancy Awareness Month Poster Contest:
Elementary
1st Place - Cassidy Besser, Twin Lakes Academy
2nd Place - Shawn Wess, St. Clair Evans Academy
3rd Place - Katelyn Layton, Hyde Park Elementary
Secondary
1st Place - Kendall Wilson, LaVilla School of the Arts
2nd Place - Madeline Van Houten, Southside Middle
3rd Place - Karina Paliy, Fort Caroline Middle
