Duval County School Board Recognizes Students, Staff and Business Partners
Jacksonville, FL - During the presentation portion of the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and Board members recognized the following students, staff and business partners for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools:
- Lena Summey of First Coast High School and Keturah Brown of Stanton College Preparatory School were recognized for having perfect attendance from grades Kindergarten through 12th;
- The following seniors were recognized for receiving $1,000 scholarships from GCA Services Group, Inc.:
- Eliis Aunis, Terry Parker High School
- Keith Momberg, Wolfson High School
- Stacey King, Paxon School for Advanced Studies
- Daniel Bareswilt, Sandalwood High School
- Ciara Marie Southworth, Sandalwood High School
- Ashley Schaffer, Fletcher High School
- Hsin-pei Debbie Lee, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts;
- The following students were recognized for receiving $600 scholarships from the First Coast Counseling Association:
- Aryn Raderman, Wolfson High School
- Keiarra Harris, Raines High School
- Laura Berger, Paxon School for Advanced Studies;
- Tamia Mallory from Brentwood Elementary was recognized for receiving a $275 campership from the First Coast Counseling Association;
- Carla Crumley-Forest, guidance counselor at Jacksonville Beach Elementary School, was recognized for receiving the Lucille Crysell Award from the First Coast Counseling Association;
- The following students were recognized for receiving $900 scholarships from Aramark Education:
- Yetiva Comacho, Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology
- Danchelle Jones, Andrew Jackson High School
- Sandra Orr, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts
- Taylor Stewart, Robert E. Lee High School
- Laura Platzer, Mandarin High School
- Jason Chang, Paxon School for Advanced Studies
- Jessica Wilson, A. Philip Randolph Academies of Technology
- Keturah Brown, Stanton College Preparatory School
- Janeca Parker, Wolfson High School
- Latoya Jefferson, Ribault High School
- Alicia Benefield, Raines High School;
- Michelle Tsoutsos, Terry Parker High School and Jason Fosky, Mandarin High School received $3,000 scholarships from Aramark and Snapple Beverage Corporation;
- Susan Phillips, principal of Chets Creek Elementary School, was recognized for being named Administrator of the Year by the Duval Art Teachers Association;
- Tony Hansberry, a ninth-grade student at Darnell-Cookman Middle/High School, was recognized for his presentation during the University of Florida's College of Medicine-Jacksonville's Medical Education Week; and
- Christian Fellowship Ministries, Community First Credit Union and Tietjen Technologies were recognized for receiving the 2009 Commissioner's Business Recognition Award.
Duval County Public Schools operates more than 160 schools and serves approximately 123,000 students. The school district is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities that will inspire all students to acquire and use the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a global economy, and culturally diverse world.
