Media Advisory: Read for the Record

WHAT:
Duval County Public Schools' (DCPS) Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals, students, faculty members and parents will participate in the Pearson's Jumpstart Read for the Record.

During the Pearson's Read for the Record event, hundreds of Duval County elementary school students will join thousands of people around the world as teachers, celebrities and local officials read Eric Carle's book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

WHEN:
Thursday, October 8, 2009

WHERE:

  • 8:30 a.m. – Lucretia Miller, DCPS' 2008-09 Teacher of the Year, will read to students at Chaffee Trail Elementary School, 11400 Sam Caruso Way, Jacksonville, FL 32221;
  • 8:45 a.m. – DCPS Superintendent Pratt-Dannals will read to parents and students at the Sallye B. Mathis Parent Involvement Center, 3501 Winton Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32208;
  • 2 p.m. - Eli Rodriguez , a 10th-grade student at Forrest High School, will read a Spanish version of the book to students at John E. Ford K-8, 1137 Cleveland St., Jacksonville, FL 32209.
