Duval County School Board recognizes schools and employees during monthly meeting

Jacksonville - During the presentation portion of the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and Board members recognized the following schools and employees for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools (DCPS):

• Neptune Beach Elementary was recognized for being named an Alliance School through the National Staff Development Council;

• South Carolina State University was recognized for their support of Duval County Public Schools during their recent “SC State University Weekend” where they provided nearly $1 million in scholarships to DCPS’ students;

• The following schools and employees for receiving 2009-2010 GCA Custodial Awards:

  Schools of the Year
  Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology
  Jefferson Davis Middle School
  Spring Park Elementary

  Employees of the Year
  Bora Gjorka, Bartram Springs Elementary
  Donald Young, Joseph Finegan Elementary
  Ernest Carter, William M. Raines High School; and

• The Duval County School Board and the Duval County Public Schools system were presented the Patriot Award from The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

  The award publicly recognizes American employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees.
