Duval County School Board recognizes students, Florida A&M
University and Open Arms Christian Fellowship during monthly meeting
Jacksonville - During the presentation portion of the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and Board members recognized the following students, Florida A&M University and Open Arms Christian Fellowship for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools (DCPS):
- Khaydrea Burton, Paxon School for Advanced Studies, and Derek Smith, First Coast High School, were recognized for having perfect attendance from grades Kindergarten through 12th ;
- Jean Ribault High School’s MCJROTC Female Physical Fitness team was recognized for their win during the 2010 National High School Physical Fitness Championships;
- Stanton College Preparatory School’s Robotics Team was recognized for their win during the FIRST Robotics Florida Regional competition;
- Andrew Hanna, Stanton College Preparatory, and Kevin Lane, Duncan Fletcher High, were recognized for receiving $500 Community Service scholarships from the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police;
- The following seniors were recognized for receiving $1,000 scholarships from GCA Services:
- Paulo Bautista, Stanton College Preparatory
- Tonya J. Herbert, Stanton College Preparatory
- Alexandra Lee, Mandarin High
- William Lipplett, Samuel Wolfson High
- Bryan Lockwood, William Raines High
- Dontel Madison, Terry Parker High
- Terrick Madison, Jean Ribault High;
- Florida A&M University was recognized for providing DCPS’ students with nearly $1.5 million in scholarships; and
- Open Arms Christian Fellowship was recognized for its partnership with Garden City Elementary and High Middle schools.
