Duval County School Board recognizes employees and students during monthly meeting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - During the presentation portion of the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and Board members recognized employees and students for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools:

 The Council for Exceptional Children recognized individuals who have demonstrated outstanding devotion to exceptional learning, as well as presented scholarships to students who have shown immense progress in their work and are role models for their peers. The recipients for these awards are listed below:

Memorial Scholarship winners:

  • Whitney Simmons from A. Philip Randolph Academies of Technology;
  • Todd Lucy and Jovanni Martinez from Fletcher High;
  • John Tran and Amber Vermillion from Ed White High; and
  • Vivian Hill from Andrew Jackson High;

Teacher and Staff Award recipients

  • Administrator of the Year-Pearl Roziers, Principal of Kernan Trail Elementary;
  • Teacher of the Year-Lori Caudle, ESE Liaison of North Shore K-8;
  • Inclusion Teacher of the Year-Stephanie Miller, teacher at Highlands Elementary;
  • Rookie Teacher of the Year- Angel Cabrera, ESE teacher at Highlands Elementary;
  • Support Staff Person of the Year- Monica Hall, paraprofessional at Highlands Elementary;

Outstanding Service Awards

  • Kathy Moeder-Christensen, Director of After School Program-Beaches Habitat for Humanity
  • Nelson Cuba-Fraternal Order of Police
  • Vic Groner-Fraternal Order of Police
