Media Advisory: Duval County Public Schools Fall Festivals

WHAT: To help promote family and community involvement, the following DCPS’ elementary schools will be hosting Fall Festivals.

Friday, October 15, 2010

• Jacksonville Heights Elementary, 4 to 7 p.m., 7750 Tempest St. S., Jacksonville, FL 32244, 904-573-1120. Proceeds will benefit the Safety Patrol.

• West Riverside Elementary, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., 2801 Herschel St., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Fun for the whole family, featuring games, food, prizes and a silent auction. All activities require tickets that can be purchased from the school’s front office.

• Seabreeze Elementary, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1400 Seabreeze Ave., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. “Howl’s & Haystacks” event with obstacle courses, huge slides, carnival foods and games, face painting, classroom booths and more! Bring your family, friends & neighbors… and come in costume, if you dare!

• Twin Lakes Academy Elementary, Annual Literacy and Family Fun Night and Book Fair, 6 to 8 p.m. Games sponsored by the PTA and Literacy Team, and dinner sponsored by Chick-fil-A at the St. Johns Town Center.

• John N.C. Stockton Elementary, 3 to 6 p.m., 4827 Carlisle Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32210.

• Louis Sheffield Elementary, 6 to 9 p.m., 3333 Lanier Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32226. Featuring games, a haunted house, food, music, a giant slide and cake walk. Special appearances by the Chick-fil-A Cow and Star Wars characters.

• Bartram Springs Elementary, 5 to 8 p.m., 14799 Bartram Springs Parkway, Jacksonville, FL 32258. The event will include a variety of activities, such as games, bounce houses, slides, food from local vendors and more.

• Chets Creek Elementary, 6 to 9 p.m., 13200 Chets Creek Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32224. Featuring carnival games, Trick or Treating in the halls, a bookwalk, food and fun.

• Kernan Trail Elementary, 6 to 9 p.m., 2281 Kernan Blvd. S., Jacksonville, FL 32246.

• Mamie Agnes Jones Elementary, 5 p.m., 700 Orange Ave., Baldwin, FL 32234.

• Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center, 10 a.m., 1741 Francis St., Jacksonville, FL 32209. The school’s “Harvest Hall” will feature classroom pumpkin carving contests and a staff designed sensory hall. Families and students will be participating in a Trick or Treat around the school and a costume contest.

• Woodland Acres Elementary, 6 p.m., 328 Bowlan St., Jacksonville, FL 32211. The Fall Family Fun Night is free to families, and will have a variety of fall-like crafts, a cupcake walk and refreshments.
