Duval County School Board recognizes schools and School Board members during monthly meeting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - During the presentation portion of the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and Board members recognized thirty-one schools for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools:
- These schools were awarded the Five Star School recognition by the Florida Department of Education for exemplary performance in family, school and community involvement for the 2009-10 school year:
- Abess Park Elementary;
- Alimacani Elementary;
- Atlantic Beach Elementary;
- J. Allen Axson Montessori Elementary;
- Baldwin Middle/Senior High;
- Don Brewer Elementary;
- Brookview Elementary;
- Chaffee Trail Elementary;
- Chets Creek Elementary;
- Crown Point Elementary;
- Enterprise Learning Academy Elementary;
- Fort Caroline Elementary;
- Greenfield Elementary;
- Greenland Pines Elementary;
- Hendricks Avenue Elementary;
- Highlands Elementary;
- Jacksonville Beach Elementary;
- Lake Forest Elementary;
- Lone Star Elementary;
- Loretto Elementary;
- Mandarin High;
- Mandarin Oaks Elementary;
- Mayport Elementary;
- Merrill Road Elementary;
- Ortega Elementary;
- Sabal Palm Elementary;
- Sandalwood High;
- Louis Sheffield Elementary;
- John N.C. Stockton Elementary;
- Twin Lakes Academy Elementary; and
- Woodland Acres Elementary
- Several Duval County public school employees were presented awards by the First Baptist Church of Oakland for their contribution to their Youth Explosion 2010 program;
- School Board members Nancy Broner, Vicki Drake and Brenda Priestly Jackson, were recognized for eight years of dedicated service to Duval County Public Schools.
Duval County Public Schools operates 172 schools and serves approximately 123,000 students.
